"Alien" is a Sci-fi horror film where a hostile
alien gets on board of a spaceship "Nostromo" and starts to kill one by one of the crew members.
The atmosphere and cinematic style make this film one of the best in the
history of cinema: the interior of the ship, increasing tension in music, the
play of light and shadow, and the very image of an alien. But beyond all this,
there is an amazing presentation of the plot, in which the crew members realize
that alien is not their only danger, but someone else, someone they trust.
“This film is much deeper and smarter than the average
story about the struggle of people with invading alien monster.” .(Sergej Kudrjavcev, 2008)

Members of the crew were played by recognized artists
of the British and American cinema. It is very interesting to see who will be
the next victim in this horror film, even today, after so many years after its
release on the big screen.
Hans Rudolf Giger was Swiss surrealist painter who
invented design of an Alien, and when Ridley Scott, the director of “Alien”,
saw Giger's paintings from the book "Necronomicon" he said, "Giger
got into my head and brought my thought to life.” Thanks to the efforts of Hans
Rudolf Giger image of an Alien is known worldwide, and will never be forgotten.

Hi Anastasija,
ReplyDeleteYou need to start thinking about the underlying themes and motifs that appear in the films that you are being shown...'Alien' for example, is notorious for its sexual imagery (the design of the alien, the fear of rape), the strong female lead character (instead of the Scream Queen type)... etc. These are the types of ideas you will need to be analyzing and discussing when you write your essays, so it's good to start practicing now :)
Yeah. Thanks! I was writing this review very fast, so I didn't really put a lot of thought onto it.
